Aim of the Course:
The course is directed towards engineers to provide refreshed, practical guidance for designers on how to comply with their duties under the Safety Health & Welfare at Work legislation and for those who fulfill the role of Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) in accordance with the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2013.

Who should attend?
Chartered Engineers, permanent works designers and project supervisors for design process. It is required that participants have completed the ACEI / Engineers Ireland “Designing for Safety in Construction” (DSC) course OR Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) course.

Programme:
The course will be virtual, over two x 2 hour sessions in one day.   The virtual classroom for participants will require access to a webcam and microphone for live, interactive sessions with the trainers throughout the 4 hours.

Topics covered during the course will include:

• Introduction and Legislation refresher
• Discussion on H&S issues / problems that engineers and PSDPs are encountering day to day
• Discussion of H&S Survey Results
• Workshop No1: Discussion of typical project and typical scenarios
• Case Law and recent lessons
• Workshop No2: Discussion with typical scenarios
• Lessons Learnt – Summary

The course will include a short open book exam at the end.

A certificate confirming participation and passing the exam will be provided.

Learning Outcomes:
On completion of the module, a participant will be able to:

• Gain a deeper understanding of the practical use of the Designing for Safety (DSC) and PSDP courses using typical projects and scenarios
• Get up to date information on latest legislation and case law
• Refresh Designing for Safety course content for designers / engineers where applicable
• Refresh competence to act as PSDP a potential client where applicable

The course trainers are all practicing chartered engineers working in consulting engineering design companies experienced in the role of PSDP.
