Torque Consulting Engineers for Larian Studio Games. A complex project on a very constrained site, with variable ground conditions, the project incorporates a mix of old and new. The scheme utilises an original protected structure on the site, a two storey over basement building constructed using limestone blocks and wraps a new build extension around it. The new build, designed as a freestanding steel sway frame integrates seamlessly with the existing building.
The project comprises three distinct buildings providing an overall office campus of 8,000 m2. The design incorporates interconnecting rectangular office buildings, an historic warehouse, and a floating cantilevered glass box wrapped in twin skin full-glass exterior. The warehouse building required significant structural intervention including the off-site, faithful, reconditioning and restoration of the original timber roof trusses in a specialist joinery workshop. A complex project on a tight site, with poor ground, the scheme incorporates a mix of old and new standing in stark contrast to one another in a visually dominant position immediately south of the Samuel Beckett bridge.
