ACEI / IStructE Graduate Development Course

October - December 2019

This course is aimed at Graduate Engineers working in a Consulting Engineering firm, with a minimum of one year’s work experience, who have not had the benefit of a structured training programme to enhance their development and progression after graduation towards Chartered Engineer status.

The course is broken into two Sessions:    

Session One topics intend to improve the graduate consulting engineer’s understanding of organisational, management, culture, project and technical issues that arise in the performance of their day to day duties.

Session Two focuses specifically on the practical aspects of design codes and construction methods, together with some relevant case studies.  In this Session, the participants will be separated into either a Civil/Structural OR Mechanical/Electrical group.

Session One - One full day and four evenings
9.00am – 5.00pm Wednesday 2 October 2019

5.00pm – 8.00pm Wednesday 9, 16, 23 and 30 October 2019

Session Two - One full days and four evenings 
9.00am – 5.00pm on Wednesday 13 November 2019

5.00pm - 8.00pm on Wednesday 20 and 27 November, and 4 and 11 December 2019

Qualified consulting engineering practitioners, expert in their respective fields, will present on a variety of topics including:

Mechanical & Electrical Session 2 will cover topics including:
  • Fire Detection and Alarm Systems
  • Lighting and Emergency Lighting
  • Data Centres cooling principles
  • MV And LV Installations
  • BER Domestic and Commercial
  • HVAC Systems
  • Air Conditioning and Ventilation
  • LPHW / CHW and Water Services Designs
  • System Design Certification and Risk Assessment
  • Sustainable Design and Life Cycle Issues

Refreshments and lunch are included in the cost on the two full days.  Sandwiches and coffee are provided during the break on the evening events. 

Venue
The course will take place in Sandymount Hotel, Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. 
There is a possibility of streaming the Wednesday evening lectures by video link, depending on demand.
