ACEI members Niall Clarke of Kavanagh Mansfield and Kevin Treacy of A1Eng have been appointed as technical advisors by the Department of Foreign Affairs for a competition to design Ireland House in Japan. The brief is to include an embassy, cultural centre, community meeting place and showroom planned for construction in the heart of Tokyo. The project aims to provide to represent the culture of Ireland as well as highlighting the six decades of diplomatic relations between Ireland and Japan.
Along with other professional representatives, Niall and Kevin will assess the submissions in relation to their adherence to technical and cost requirements of the competition. Their appointment as technical advisors is based on their excellent engineering knowledge and experience working in many varied projects, especially engaging with other professions, including architects. Their involvement in this prestigious project demonstrates the value that the Department places on consulting engineers in Ireland, and that they are confident that work done by engineers and architects in the State is done to the highest international standards.
