The annual EFCA AGM Conference that took place in Dublin over three days, 9 - 11 May 2019, was a great success. Hosted by ACEI on behalf of EFCA, the conference was made possible by the co-operation of ACEI and EFCA and in particular the leadership of Kevin Rudden, EFCA President, Past-President ACEI, ACEI President Ciarán Kennedy and ACEI Secretary General Dr. Sarah Ingle.
The conference was attended by over 200 delegates from 24 countries. The Business Day of the event took place in the Westin Hotel in the heart of Dublin, and was a productive day of meetings, in particular the EFCA AGM. Concurrently, the newly formed EFCA Young Professional Steering Committee organised a programme for younger EFCA and ACEI members including a selection of presentations and an illuminating visit to the construction site of the New Children’s Hospital.
The Conference Day took place in the historic setting of Dublin Castle which was very suited to the size and scope of the event. Speakers from many different backgrounds took to the floor including Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring, Futurist Rohit Talwar, ACEI Vice-President Gerry Carty and Elisa Maceratini of the FIDIC Diversity Task Force. Former CNN Anchor and author Gina London was the MC and did a stellar job of introducing speakers and fully engaging the delegates with informative panel discussions. The CEO lunch was a highlight with an insightful and humorous keynote speech by renowned Irish economist David McWilliams. The Conference achieved all its many objectives and was rounded off with a Gala dinner in the prestigious, historic setting of the Trinity College Dining Hall, including a rousing performance from Irish percussionists and a hard-shoe dancer.
The Post-Conference tour on land and sea on the Viking Splash was a very enjoyable event for all of the participants and a fitting end to the three days of international discussions, collaborations and networking.
